Created by the McNally brothers a couple of decades ago, it is fair to say that Balthazar has earned the right to be labeled a New York City institution. While it is popular for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, my favorite time to go is in the early morning—when I can plop myself into one of their cozy and iconic bistro booths and enjoy that irresistible smell of freshly baked goods wafting throughout the entire restaurant, as their bread and croissants are just coming out of the wood burning oven.
